Product description

An original test pressing of Cabretta, the acclaimed 1977 debut album by Mink DeVille. Produced in extremely limited numbers during the manufacturing process, test pressings were created to assess audio quality before commercial release and were never intended for sale to the public.Recorded for Capitol Records and produced by Jack Nitzsche, Cabretta introduced the distinctive songwriting of Willy DeVille, blending rock, rhythm & blues, soul and Latin influences into one of the defining albums of the New York punk era. While contemporaries such as the Ramones and Television emerged from CBGB, Mink DeVille carved out their own identity, earning a devoted following with songs including “Spanish Stroll” and “Mixed Up, Shook Up Girl.”This example is housed in a plain sleeve with handwritten production annotations, confirming its origins as a genuine working copy from the pressing plant. The test pressing comes directly from the personal collection of Mary Cobra (Mary Ramirez), founding guitarist of The Detroit Cobras, whose archive reflects a lifelong appreciation for influential rock, soul and rhythm & blues recordings.Key Details & Collectability
